01: Find free adult education classes

Before you take a high school equivalency test, it’s best to prepare by taking classes. Use the ZIP code finder above or text CLASS to 97779 to find classes and support near you.

02: Register for classes

Your local adult education center will work with you to place you in the right classes and create a learning plan to help you earn your diploma.

03: Go to class and study

You won’t be alone. Teachers and tutors in your program will help you learn the material and support you along the way. You can even sign up for supportive text messages by texting CLASS to 97779 to help keep you on track.

04: Take practice tests

Practice makes perfect. When the time is right, your teachers will help you take practice tests so you know exactly what to expect from the real thing.

05: Take your test

Your local adult education center will let you know which test is right for you. Based on your state, it may be the GED,® HiSET® or TASCTM test.

06: Graduate

Once you pass your test, all that’s left to do is graduate. You’ll finally have the credential you’ve been missing and open the door to a world of opportunity.
